IStay

Open to everyone.

In partnership with Vesterålen Turlag, Skavlnes skole on Skogsøya is open as a trekking cabin. The aim is to make Skogsøya accessible as a hiking destination and to open the island to the general public. Members of Vesterålen Turlag/DNT enjoy the same rates as at any trekking cabin.

IVPractical information

How to use the cabin.

  • Call before you arrive

Individual beds are not booked, but you must call to agree a time before you head out. The house may be occupied by the camp school or by rental guests without this showing in the calendar. Call 466 61 549.

  • Bedding

Duvets and pillows are provided — bring a sheet sleeping bag or your own bedding. There are 25 beds in total, with a few extra mattresses.

  • Dogs

Dogs are welcome on the ground floor. Most beds are on the first floor — please be considerate of other guests.

  • Cleaning

Please leave the cabin as you would any hired cottage. There is a dishwasher at Skavlnes skole; washing-up liquid is in the cupboard. Leave the place in at least as good a state as you found it — ideally a little better.

  • Toilet & shower

We have well-appointed shower and toilet rooms.

  • Waste

There is no rubbish collection on Skogsøya — be mindful of what you bring, as everything must be taken back with you.

  • Equipment loans

The venue's canoes may be borrowed by arrangement. Other equipment is not available for loan. Please contact us on 466 61 549 or post@oksnesleirskole.no.

  • Floating dock

The venue's floating dock may be used by arrangement. Please contact us on 466 61 549 or post@oksnesleirskole.no.

Welcome to Skavlnes.

Call 466 61 549 to agree a time before you set out — the house may be occupied without this showing in the calendar. If you would like to borrow a canoe or use the floating dock, mention it in the same call.
